Feb 23, 2005 TEL to Begin Sales of IronMail, the Email Security Appliance from CipherTrustTOKYO –– February 23, 2005 –– Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) announced today that it has concluded a distribution agreement with CipherTrust, Inc. (Head Office: Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.; President & CEO: Steve Raber), under which TEL will begin selling CipherTrust's IronMail messaging appliances in Japan on February 23. In recent years email has expanded significantly to become one of the most important tools of communication between companies. To protect their own systems from external threats, many companies are utilizing firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, and other network security measures. In reality, however, companies are doing nothing to safeguard the ports for sending and receiving email. Because of this, they have been forced to introduce security-related servers and applications between their firewalls and email servers, resulting in high costs in terms of both management and operation. IronMail is an integrated appliance dedicated to email, with all of the functions necessary for email security integrated into a single unit. By closely examining all connections to email servers, it detects and blocks any known threat as well as any potential connection-related dangers. Equipped with CipherTrust's proprietary Mail Firewall technology, IronMail works as a powerful email gateway. TEL, which has a long track record in the field of network security, is also aiming to achieve sales of 1.5 billion yen in the field of messaging security solutions over the next three years.
